Beauty, silence and fields.

Yellow marigolds, red roses, purple chrysanthemums, lush fields of grapes, bushy mulberry, strands of golden corn, rows of cabbage — unexpected treasures as you drive further away from the city.

Once, Bangalore too must have been like this.

My home in the city stands on land that was once filled with eucalyptus trees. They have now been cut and cleared away. Perhaps it was once the home of eagles.

Now, I, along with 2,000 other people, live in these high-rise apartments.

And I lament — where have the birds gone?

But have I not driven them away?

Have we not slowly turned Bangalore into a concrete jungle?
